Kitchen Ceramic Floor Tile in Justice
A Justice homeowner replaced the existing vinyl flooring in their kitchen with cream ceramic tile in an offset brick pattern. The kitchen had a concrete slab substrate, which was swept, vacuumed, and checked for any high spots before installation. There was an existing vinyl cove base at the toe kicks that was removed before tiling, and the new tile was set to run under the toe kick line to give a clean termination. The offset brick pattern was laid with a 1/3 offset rather than the standard 1/2 offset because the 1/2 offset on a rectangular tile can exaggerate any slight variations in the slab levelness, making lippage more visible. The 3/16 inch grout joints are filled with a matching sanded product in a warm cream tone that blends with the tile color and complements the light wood cabinets.
