Arch Picket Shower Wall Tile in Bedford Park
This Bedford Park shower wall used arch-shaped (also called fan or picket) white ceramic tile as the primary surface material, paired with brushed gold fixtures and a recessed niche lined in matching tile. Arch-shaped tiles interlock at the top of each piece, which means the layout has to be started from the bottom row and worked upward so the arch heads align correctly at each course. Any deviation in the starting row multiplies through the height of the wall. We used a level baseline at the bottom and a reference line at mid-wall to keep the courses true. The built-in shelf niche required mitered tile returns at the edges to maintain the arch pattern into the recess. The grout is a very pale gray unsanded product at 1/16 inch joints to keep the look clean against the white tile.
